Notes:  The Fifty Fathoms model is perhaps the most iconic military dive watch in history. Designed by Captain Robert Maloubier and Lieutenant Claude Riffaud at the beginning of the 1950s to respond to the need of the French Navy’s combat swimmers corps, the watch was produced by Blancpain, who’s former CEO, Mr Jean-Jacques Fiechter was himself a passionate diver. The model name derives from the watch’s waterproof ability: it can be submerged up to Fifty Fathoms, or 91.45 meters underwater. 

With this new limited edition of 500 pieces of the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day Date, Blancpain presents a timepiece inspired by its diving watches of the 1970s. Death in the United States, where Ernest Brooks II, pioneer of underwater photography and contributor to the Edition Fifty Fathoms project, made a spectacular dive into the Devil’s Hole in 1962. With its timer punctuated with Arabic numerals from five to five, with its luminescent baton hands and black rotating bezel, the model boasts a readability specific to great divers. Water resistant to 300 meters and equipped with a 5-day power reserve, this watch is made for action.
