What rocked the world of watchmaking more than 40 years ago has since become a cult object: The sporty and elegant Nautilus by Patek Philippe. A steel watch didn’t fit the cliché of gold luxury watches – let alone with that showy size and extravagant shape. Patek Philippe’s goal was to address a new generation of active and sporty people. The launch of the watch was supported by an advertising campaign that was as original as it was sassy: “One of the most expensive watches in the world is made of steel” the ad read.
